Industry Wide, Projects Struggle
-
56% LESS Value than anticipated coming from most projects (McKinsey)
- 45% Budget Overruns on large IT projects (McKinsey)
- 69% “Failure” Rate of IT projects overall (Standish)
We owe it to ourselves, our company, and our teams to lead with priorities and block out the noise.
Communication is Key
It’s not enough to select the right things and prioritize them one time. We need to make it a focus of our efforts. Use your prioritized initiatives:
-
In meetings: Schedule conversations on the priorities, not the other noise
- In reporting: Look at the metrics, progress, and problems in the prioritized order
- In updates: As you share info back to your team
Use practical tools to evaluate changes and make sure they align. Priorities shift and that’s a good thing. It’s nimble, agile, and effective. When they shift, communicate the what and why to the team and pay attention to what should be de-prioritized.
It will make the difference in your business.
